Handcrafted Copper Lanterns, Made for Electric Light
The character of a traditional copper lantern doesn’t require a gas flame.
Flambeaux electric lanterns offer the same handcrafted construction, timeless profiles, and authentic copper finishes as our gas lanterns, with the convenience of electric illumination.
Every lantern we offer can be configured for either gas or electric, giving homeowners, designers, architects, and builders the flexibility to choose the lighting source that works best for the space.
Why Choose an Electric Lantern?
Electric lanterns are an ideal choice when you want the look and craftsmanship of a traditional copper lantern without an open flame or gas connection.
They work especially well for interior applications, covered spaces, and other areas where gas lighting may not be practical or preferred. They are also a straightforward option for homeowners who simply prefer electric illumination.
You still get the presence of a hand-built Flambeaux lantern. The difference is how it is illuminated.
The Same Lantern. Your Choice of Gas or Electric.
Choosing electric does not mean giving up the design that caught your eye.
Flambeaux lanterns are available in both gas and electric configurations, allowing you to select a lantern based on the architecture and proportions of your home rather than being limited by the light source.
That flexibility can also make it easier to carry a consistent lantern style throughout a property. Gas may be preferred in one location while electric makes more sense in another.
The result is a cohesive look with lighting selected for the needs of each space.
Electric Lanterns for Indoor and Outdoor Spaces
Electric lanterns give you more flexibility in where traditional copper lighting can be used.
For an entryway, interior hall, covered porch, exterior wall, or another architectural setting, an electric configuration can provide the character of a handcrafted lantern without the need for a live flame.
For designers and builders, electric options also make it possible to incorporate authentic copper lanterns into projects where gas service is unavailable or simply isn’t part of the plan.
Hand-Built in Louisiana
Whether configured for gas or electric, every Flambeaux lantern is built in-house in Louisiana.
Our lanterns are cut, soldered, assembled, and finished by hand using traditional craftsmanship. They are not imported or mass-produced, and the copper is never covered with paint or a faux coating.
The material and workmanship are part of the finished piece—not something created to imitate an aged copper lantern.
Authentic Copper Finishes
Your choice of electric illumination does not change the character of the copper itself.
Flambeaux offers authentic copper finish options, including our distinctive Dark Oxidation finish. Dark Oxidation is created through a real chemical aging process that develops a deep bronze appearance in the copper itself.
It is not paint. It is not powder coating.
Other available copper finishes allow you to choose a different expression of the material, from brighter raw copper to warmer aged tones that continue to develop naturally over time.
Gas or Electric: Which Is Right for Your Project?
Both options offer the craftsmanship and architectural presence that define a Flambeaux lantern.
Choose gas when the movement and character of a live flame are an important part of the design.
Choose electric when you want traditional lantern styling with electric illumination, need a solution for an interior application, do not have access to gas, or simply prefer not to use an open flame.
Because Flambeaux lanterns are available in either configuration, you can start by choosing the lantern that fits your architecture and then select the light source that fits your project.
