Top Options
This refers to what materials will make up the top of the lantern. Each lantern will be different as shown by the photo. However, certain lanterns (such as the French Quarter style) come with tempered glass top panels and you may have the option to select copper top panels instead.
- Tempered Glass - standard on many lights
- Copper Top Panels - replaces the tempered glass on the top of the lantern with copper tops on French Quarter Style
Glass Options
Our gas lanterns come with tempered glass as a standard feature. Tempered glass is often called safety glass because it is approximately 5 times stronger than regular glass. This is done through heat strengthened of the glass making it a better product for use in outdoor lanterns with natural gas flames.
- Tempered Glass - Comes standard on all Flameaux Lanterns and is extremely durable and heat resistant. Tempered glass is 4-5 times stronger than regular glass and is considered ideal for gas lanters.
- Seeded Glass - a decorative glass made to use bubbles in the surface to soften the light and provide more interest.
- Beveled Glass - Clear glass, with edges that have been ground and polished to an angle other than 90 degrees.
Power Options
Each lantern can be fitted with several options for burning gas. Most can also be built to use electricity as well.
- Electric - fitted for use as an electric lantern. Recommended for indoor use.
- Gas - fitted for use with natural gas
- Propane - fitted for use with propane gas or tanks.
- Double Burner - creates a double flame within the lantern
Top Options - Finials
Some lanterns offer the choice to add a finial to either the top of the lantern, the bottom of the lantern, or both. Other lanterns offer a feature called a "chimney stack" available on them.
- Top Finial - a finial on the top of the lantern only
- Top / Bottom Finial - a lantern that includes a finial on both the top and bottom
- Chimney Stack - a rounded "chimney" on the top of the lantern
Control Options
Each gas lantern comes with several choices for controlling the gas output that creates flames. These choices can impact how you turn your lantern on or off as well as how you manage the intensity of the flame itself.
- Manual control - This is the standard flame control for most gas lanterns. The gas flame is regulated by a knowb which can be turned to adjust the height of the flame..
- Thermoucoupler - This is an important safety feature that regulates the output of gas and will automatically shut off the gas flow if the flame goes out.
- Electronic Igniter - This feature is often found in gas fireplaces and allows the user to turn the lantern on or off with the "flip of a switch." The electronic igniter will safely regulates the gas flow and ignites or extenguishes the flame via remote control.
